How to use the percentage calculator

Pick the box that matches your question and fill in the two numbers. The answer updates as you type. Use the first box to find a part of a number, such as the discount amount on a price. Use the second to find what share one number is of another, such as exam marks. Use the third to see how much something has gone up or down.

Formulas

  • X% of Y = X ÷ 100 × Y
  • X is what % of Y = X ÷ Y × 100
  • Percentage change = (B − A) ÷ A × 100

Examples

20% of 1,500 is 300. The number 45 is 15% of 300. If a price moves from 800 to 1,000, that is an increase of 25%.
